As part of its ESG strategy, Lecta is committed to reducing overall waste production, increasing reuse and recycling levels, and achieving increasingly efficient production processes. In its 2030 sustainability strategic objectives, Lecta has established key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure transparent evaluation of its progress in this regard. Waste management is carried out in collaboration with trusted partners to ensure compliance with regulations and sustainable disposal, as well as to maximize reuse opportunities.

Most of Lecta’s waste is specific to the production of pulp and paper and is therefore listed in the European list of non-hazardous waste. This includes sludge from wastewater treatment.

Lecta’s latest Sustainability Report shows significant progress in waste management, achieving a 97.8% waste recovery rate. In some plants, up to 100% of the sludge is reused, for example, as fertilizer for the agricultural sector. This result highlights Lecta’s commitment to environmental protection, the circular economy, and sustainable development.
