Lucart has been awarded with a ‘Platinum’ rating by the independent agency EcoVadis. The multinational group famed for promoting a sustainable way of producing paper earned the highest rating level for business social responsibility. Only 1% of the over 90,000 companies analysed by Ecovadis worldwide can boast such a result.
This rating examines several aspects of sustainability, grouped into four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The themes are based on international sustainability standards, like the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions. “We are proud of this further major result earned through great teamwork in all our production sites on all aspects of sustainability” said Massimo Pasquini, CEO of the Lucart Group. “With this recognition of excellence, Lucart is confirmed as one of the companies that best comply with the highest standards of transparency in the environmental, social and economic fields.”
This award recognises the company’s efforts in recent years to promote a sustainable way of manufacturing paper. Since 2014, Lucart has reduced the specific CO2 and NOx emissions by 14.9% and 47%, respectively, and specific energy consumption by 13.2 %, with 80 % of waste being recovered. Specific water consumption decreased by 23.3% compared to 2013.
