Starting July 1, Jussi Vanhanen will be President and CEO of Metsä Group. Until June 30, 2025, the position will be held by the current President and CEO, Ilkka Hämälä, who will then transition to special duties within the company. These duties will continue until October 23, 2025, when he will retire.
“I am grateful for the trust,” said Vanhanen. “Metsä Group is a great company with solid operational principles, clear direction, and committed and competent staff. I look forward to working closely with everyone and developing the company, further strengthening its position in global markets.”
During Ilkka Hämälä’s tenure as President and CEO, significant development investments were made, the largest of which was the construction of the Kemi bioproduct mill. Resource efficiency and the use of lateral watercourses, as well as the launch of regenerative forestry principles and land use, are signs of responsible business and solutions for the bioeconomy and circular economy.
